CS Edition 40 bucket seats , quick Q
« on: 31 October 2018, 19:44 »
Just a quickie,

Should the seats be able to slide forward when the backrest is  tilted ?

I’m in the process of buying a 3dr CSE 40 with the optional wingback bucket seats, just wondering if it has been built wrong  as the seats don’t slide forward when the backrest is tipped forwards for rear seat entry, salesman reckons that’s normal, surely not, I’m thinking more like vw accidentally fitted 5 door seat runners instead.

Not a deal breaker if they don’t slide as no one is going in the back, just odd that they would make them like that, considering that one of my customers has a mk5 with almost the same factory seats and they slide forward.

Just checked mine (3 door with buckets).  The back tilts forward, but the seat itself don't seem to slide forward.

Same on mine. They don’t slide when the back it tilted, you need to pull the lever under the seat to slide them forward and then tilt the back to let passengers in the rear.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply’s , looks like it’s normal then and the sales person was correct.

Like I said , it’s not a deal breaker for me but still a Rather odd decision by VW not to have them slide, especially given there are plenty other cars with similar/same seats that do.

Would still sooner have an armrest aswell, some quite odd production decisions on these ED40’s.

If you want an armrest and sliding seats I'll swap you for my PP GTi
