seatbelt nag noise
« on: 26 January 2018, 11:49 »
One of the benefits of owning an old car is that I can put a bag on the passenger seat without being annoyed by the seatbelt nag noise.

Can this be turned off on a new Golf?

Would it be useful to snip off the buckle from the old car to silence the nag sound on the new Golf?

Yes it can be turned off with either VCDS or OBDeleven.

Or put the bag in the footwell or back or boot :D

Mind you, it would need to be quite heavy before you'd encounter the passenger detection... I've had all sorts of junk on the passenger seat without issue.

Probably if its heavy enough to trigger it, you probably don't want it on the seat for safety reasons...

If it's heavy enough to trigger the seat belt nag as OP puts it then it shouldn't be left on the seat in the first place. I just can't understand why people want to turn off safety features that are designed into a car for a reason!

There's a difference between safety feature and a bloody annoying feature like the seatbelt reminder. If a person needs a beeping reminder to tell you to put your belt on then maybe they shouldn't be driving.
