Hi all,

sorry if I am being a pest with lots of questions recently but I am thinking of buying new Golf later in the year from a UK dealer. If I supply after market but genuine VW alloys (without tyres and not from the same dealer) is it likely the VW dealer will agree to my request to with swap my alloys (meaning taking the tyres off the stock ones and transfering the existing tyres to the new alloys)....yes its a bit of work....but its really nice if they can do this before handover. OR are dealers likely to say no? Any experience? Yes I realize I could buy an entire spare set of tyres for the new alloys but I don't want to go to this expense right now.

thanks

They'll do anything... for a fee.
Best bet, ask them.

I'm sure most dealers will, just be sure to include it in your negotiation. Obviously you'll need to check the tyres will fit your wheels.

I have a feeling they would say no, for the reason that unless you can prove they are brand new, they have no way of knowing the provenance of the wheels.

It will cost you £10-ish per wheel in a tyre place to swap, I wouldn't even bother going down that route, adds more hassle for dealer and more chance of a screw up if you aren't standing over them making sure they don't scratch your new wheels.
