Extended warranty
« on: 15 July 2017, 21:55 »
I am getting back in a gti after selling my 16 plate black(could not keep it clean) and buying a 65 plate white, now it still has 14 months warranty that should take me to 20000 miles when the warranty expires...should I extend at that point or can I expect very few and only minor problems?

If you're worried about unexpected bills then buy a good aftermarket warranty.

If its DSG then extend, also consider modern electronics - the more there are the more there is to go wrong and repairs are not cheap.

Check out extending the VW warranty conditions as they are different from the one you can buy from new but still might offer better piece of mind than an aftermarket one which can get expensive when you opt for cover at the full VW hourly rate.  Check for local VW/Audi independents and their hourly rates to help you select the level of cover from a 3rd part warranty you do not want to be limited to a cheap hourly rate which would only cover a back street garage.
