Rear view mirror trim removal
« on: 04 July 2017, 21:46 »
Today I noticed that the trim around my rear view mirror wasn't clipped together properly so I thought I'd sort that easily. I have one piece off, more by luck than judgement but the longer piece is still in place. I think I need to get this off in order to correctly re-assemble this. Can anyone tell me how to get this off and which order these pieces should be re-assembled in?
I find myself very nervous with plastic trim pieces, had too many mishaps in the past! I have tried to remove it but it didn't seem to want to come easily.

That might well be! Thanks for that, I'll have another go at this tomorrow.
Could I ask where this is from? It looks like a useful resource.

I found this link a while back on the golfmk7 forum, it has all the workshop manuals for the mk7.

That's a really useful thing to know. It'll help those wishing to fit a dash cam and wishing to hide cabling under there

Yep as picture above the rear section is removed first weirdly and then the front. It fits nice and flush to the screen so routing a dash cam cable is not possible unless you don't mind it sitting away from the screen a bit.

Once you get the trim off you can route the cable and cut a small notch in the plastic trim to run the cable through keeping it all flush, I seem to remember Monkeyhanger doing that.

Once you manage to get all the trim, leave it off so it looks like a Mk7.5 rear view mirror..  Facelift mod
