New clutch and Flywheel 90k miles

As the title says, new clutch and flywheel being fitted after pedal hit the floor a few days ago.

90k motorway miles and i never thrash it.

I've heard there are some issues with weak clutches on the R and Audi S3 manual cars and since they have the same amount of torque to the GTD, might be the same thing.

Not really sure what your getting at, you cant expect it to last forever can you? even with motorway miles 90K is a lot

I Thought the same, it would take me 15 to 18 years!!!!!!!! :grin:to get to 90K, I remember changing clutches at around every 20K on Mini's, 105E's ETC in the 60's. That's why I think todays cars are amazing value with standard kit and reliability.

Just sharing my experience of the car and its components within a tangible timeframe and conditions in case anyone searches the forum for info. 

I personally think 90k miles is quite acceptable for a clutch especially considering the high levels of torque.

90k sounds about right based on my previous experiences of doing ~100k over 3 years in various Mondeos and Vectras etc.

Usually just before 3 years is up I had to have new clutches.

My old 2.0TDI went back with 123k on the clock - first clutch and I didn't drive it like an old nun.
90k sounds quite early in a highish annual mileage car tbh.

This is why remapped cars tend to kill clutches, not the power that tends to do the damage it was being lazy and using the torque rather than changing down
