Warning : ACC and Front Assist Not Available
« on: 06 February 2017, 12:17 »
This message comes up two weeks ago and persists. I try to re-set via car menu without success.
Goes into VW Dealer who re-set on their workshop equipment.
All fine except their diagnostic equipment says the car has been driven aggressively and the Front Assist has activated 7 times in one journey which is why it tripped out????
No -one but me has driven the car during the last 14 months and I rarely trip the warning.......never 7 times!!
Anyone else heard of this BS?

Normally that message is to do with it not getting a clear view from the radar sensor - perhaps debris like a carrier bag stuck on the front or snow build up.

I've had that a few times, plus one unusual random glitch in three years.

If its persisting like you say it is, its probably the sensor itself or an alignment issue with it. The alignment is very critical, its a really fine adjustment and a whack can knock it off...

Hopefully your vehicle is still in warranty because either of the two problems above are expensive to fix...

The electronics for it are below the cup holders between the front seats. I spilt a very small amount of water from a water bottle in to the bottom of my cup holder and it had the same effect. I removed the base of the cup holder for a few days which was sufficient for it to dry out and go back to working normally.

Interesting.
All re-set, no charge, car now back.
Very weird reason given by the dealer...it's even recorded on my worksheet.
Why would the system switch itself off due to being used too often??
Anyway, let's move on........my Reflex Silver 17 plate GTI has arrived ready for 1 March. This was ordered speculatively by the dealer and I believe it will be one of the very last Reflex Silver GTIs ever built,(this colour has been deleted for FL Mk7.5 cars).

I guess it would report a fail if it had repeated rapid detections of front assist intervention. Mind you, you'd know about it if that happened...
