Hi all, new to the forum, apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I couldn't see any specific references
Currently driving a BMW 116i and looking to upgrade to a Golf R Estate
My local dealer informs me that VW are no longer taking new orders on the Mark 7, and that new orders for the 2017 facelift version will not start until April with delivery early 2018 - is this really true?!
Second question is that my local dealer has a good spec Mark7 R Estate available now, but without DCC - any thoughts on not having this option?
All R orders are now from stock, the books have been closed a while and facelift non 'performance Golfs' start in RHD in the next few weeks if they haven't already.
The R estate will ride better than a 116i even without DCC from my experiences. You have to allow for the fact the R is a 300PS car so will expect a few bumps to be felt and heard but it has a pretty cosseting ride even on standard suspension considering what it is.
Bearing in mind the R had a 6 to 9 month waiting list at its peak then your dealer can be forgiven for the timescales he's put to you, he will want you to be signing for a car ASAP as that's what his livelihood depends on! The order books will open for the FL cars sooner or later but I do think there will likely be a long wait for the performance models unless you're really lucky.
