Big silver badge removal
« on: 11 October 2005, 22:27 »
Does anyone know how to remove the big silver VW badges from front and rear?  I'm sure I've seen this on here before, but I can't be arsed to trawl through the search results!

Piece of pi*s!

Rear badge:  heat with a hairdryer to soften the glue and the badge will simply pull off.  If it does not pull off easily, get yourself a length of fishing wire (or similar) and carefully drag it between the badge and the body.  This will slice through the glue and remove the badge!  Any residual glue can then easily be peeled or T-Cut off.

Front badge:  Just done mine at the weekend, took about 5 minutes!  Remove the front grille by prising out the two retaining plastic studs and the grille then pulls upwards and outwards.  You will see once you get the studs out.  Then you can simply press the centre badge out from the rear of the grille.  If you wish to re-use the old badge be careful at this point as the small plastic lugs on the back are easily broken.  Refitting is the reverse of removal, as they say at Haynes.

Job done!  Hope this helps,

Dave
