MK6 GTi Rust Weakness?

Are these cars prone to rust/ any known weaknesses?

Mk6 are a bit new for modern cars to be going rusty. We'll find out in a few years. (Mines fine at 7 years old)

Mine is coming up to 7 years and like the Ant no problems so far. A couple of people have mentioned rust developing on the front of the sump but mine still has a full coat of paint and so no signs of rust.

Just check the front wings as VW still fit the open cell foam blocks in the wings that trap water. So they have the possibility to rust in the future the same as the mk4 and mk5

Also the front of the sills and down the rear of the wings for the same reason as they fit sponge there too that sokes up water on the mk6.
