Having owned both a PP GTI & an R I can well believe the various rolling road prints I've seen showing the standard GTI (vRS etc) putting out more than the published 220/230 PS. Once run in the engine feels much stronger than the figures.
I'd also say that the R only just makes the claimed figures but is still very noticeably quicker than the various GTIs I've driven in the higher rev ranges.
I've had a DTUK tuning box and a JB1.
I prefer the JB1 but have to say the DTUK is better built and far easier to adjust.
The JB1 scores on the finite adjustments you can make, particularly if you have further mods.
Once the JB4 gets released it will be a game changer for VW group add on boxes.
