I was thinking about going down to VW armed with two baby seats and the base  try it then say thanks and leave.

If I go for the r with cloth shoes off will be the policy.

Also one last question (promise) how much smaller is the boot in the R

The boot is the same as that in your GTD with the floor raised to the highest position. It's small tbh... The boot size is far more problematic than fitting the baby seat in my experience.

You currently have a GTD right? Or is that sig out of date? If you do there's no need to be wondering... Interior space in the R is identical and the boot as I said is the same with the floor raised.

I have already said to my wife when we have kids they are going to take their shoes off in my car when they are in a baby seat. There will also be a no messy food policy

You joke, but it is entirely possible.

My sister used a piece of nylon(it was made from an old waterproof poncho) that she covered the back of the seat with so her kids didn't mark the seats with their shoes. It was clipped onto the headrest bars and the bottom of the seats. Easy to wipe clean if it got dirty.

Thanks Joe.  I'll lift the boot floor up in my own car and see what I get in.
