It doesn't sit low enough for those wheels to me.I'm sure the R suspension is a bit lower than the GTD and it shows.

I like the fact the first "key fact" about the car is that it has a "Lights on warning buzzer". Definitely an important selling point...

It's to disguise the shame of it being a VW group Diesel - they're trying to divert you attention to more sexy bits of information!


Aside from that, well who could fail to love a set of Pretorias? Looks good but the standard wheels plus spacers would have looked just as good...

This has been the case for years with VW   . Lights on Warning buzzer first - and then way down in the list - a quick mention of the 1,700 quid optional Pro Navigation.

Surely they would shift more stock with emphasis on the additional extras on each car rather than the dullest list of completely taken for granted features...

They forgot to mention steering wheel, windscreen, brakes etc ...

Agreed.  While my opinion might be biased I think the standard GTD wheels look great.

Looks good with Prets, but would you really want people mistaking your GTD for an R.  R's are so common these days. 

Mine was mistaken for a GTD on Sunday.  I'm fine with that.

What, someone mistaking your GTD for and R or vice versa?

Couldn't care less what people think my car is, even a shameful emissionsgate diesel.

My nosy neighbour was checking out my new wheels the other day.Before he got the chance to mention 'emissiongate'.I said 'oh,my car is in the clear'.He was obviously thinking about it- as he quickly mentioned (pointing to a neighbours car) 'what about HIS Passat Bluemotion?.

Brings out the worst in people, they can't wait to point the finger and mock.  It's the typical British trait.

There's not many people who buy a car to save the world, it usually comes down to running costs, performance, equipment or a bit of all 3. When they're driving a Prius and you're driving an R, I know who's going to have more fun behind the wheel. From a particulates point of view I have no doubt that my GTD was cleaner than my R (and from a CO2 point of view it definitely is). My GTD's pipes were always clean as a whistle, the R's get filthy with soot.

The main point with the public is that if it isn't taxed and they can't see it, they usually couldn't give a sh!t. This will be long forgotten in 6 months. I'm amazed no one seems to be scrutinising the other car marques - I have no doubt they're all at it but haven't been caught yet.

I actually really like the car the thread is all about, I don't know if the mileage is just a stab in the dark or reasonably accurate but with the spec it must about somewhere around the £32k mark so maybe around £28k from a broker(?) and the wheel it shows the close up of even has a Pirelli rather than a Bridgestone!
