My 3.5 cab, 1.6 petrol any tuning tips??

So I've had my cab just over a year, used as a daily commuter 15 Mile each way, the engine is very flat in  1,2,3rd gear, it's fine once in 5th and pulls ok.
It's only 100bhp, are there any chips or tuning for this engine or am I resigned to it.
I was thinking about selling and getting a r32 or a gti 1.8t (180)
But I really like the cab and it's mint condition and well looked after.
Any ideas to put a little more oomph in her would be very much appreciated

Yes, buy a cheap mk4 gti 20vt and insert the engine into the cab. Job done.

Ok, what else would I need to change if I was to get a 1.8t engine?
