To GardX or not?
« on: 03 November 2015, 14:40 »
I've just placed my order for new Golf GTI  It will be a cash buy as I intend to own the car a good while.
The salesman I'm dealing with has offered full GardX protection free of charge.
He's a top lad who's already matched the drivethedeal offer I was given.
The question is, should I accept the offer or not?
I've read nothing but bad things on these forums about GardX, and in particular, having a dealer apply it.
What should I do ?

Your call but I would give it a miss.  There's plenty of similar nano coating products on the market such as Gtecniq C2V3, that will do a better job and are very easy to apply yourself.  The dealer could well inflict a lot of damage to the paintwork if care is not taken and then the scratches would be underneath the protection.  I personally think it's too risky in terms of potential damage.  I's give it a miss and do it yourself.

That was my gut feeling as well.
Thanks for the quick reply and advice. I'll tell them thanks but no thanks.

Play them at their own game and ask for something else of the equivalent 'value'

What do they charge to smear on a £10 bottle of sealant these days? £300?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
