Hi all,
I've had my mk2 for just over 10 years now. It was given to me in a 'ready for the scrappers' condition but I've had it garaged since owning it and very very slowly restored it.
I'm about ready for MOT time and start enjoying it now, but I can't get her running. Basically, I'm not getting a spark.
Its had new coil, HT leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm.
I'm beginning to think its the digifant system somewhere.
What I would love from this post is if someone could briefly describe how the system works and offer suggestions on what to do next. My gut instinct is to replace (what I believe is called) the TCI/ignition module. This being the small metal part that is fixed to the top of the ECU? I could really do without shelling out on one though if I'm on the wrong track as I am skint.
I've done what research I can, and all seems a bit scary. I gather the digi system takes info from all sorts of sensors to work. Does this mean if any component is wrong it will stop a spark full stop? I've not had a single spark.
All the obvious are checked- like good connections to coil, good leads with good connection etc.
I'm no mechanic but capable with guidance/instruction to check things. Any help would be massively appreciated- I really want to hear her fire up for the 1st time in 12 years. (Its all new fuel, services etc- literally just no spark).
