Hi everyone.
I have been reading various old posts for weeks now working my way through all the suggestions on 16V starting issues.
The car initially fires first flick of the key then instantly dies (if you apply a little throttle for 5 seconds it starts up perfect and settles to idle fine when you lift off) . If you let it start and die it takes full throttle and about 10 seconds of turning over to fire.
The entire ignition system has been replaced ( the car had full service history but hasnt done many miles in the last 8 years. Due to this the previous owner couldnt be bother to find the problem but as its my daily driver i want it sorting. Mixture, idle microswitch , timing and idle are all bang on. I was hoping it was a fuel related issue but .... having replaced the lift pump, relay, fuel pump and non return valve and the accumulator its not made any difference. The injectors are tested fine, the CUV is working as it should, I have no vaccum pipe leaks and the ISV has all tested out ok.
I dont really understand about the WUR ..... i am under the impression that is involved in warm up and not inital cold start?
I have replaced the temperature sensors (well tried to..... the first lot i bought didnt work.... and the second lot one snapped as i screwed it in finger tight but the other two are in and i have attached the temperature guage to the old one.
What i dont understand is that the resistances are all over. The temp guage reads low and at cold its sensor has a resistance of 400 ohms ... of the two new ones.... one has a cold resistance of 1400 and the other 1100. This seems odd considering they should be the same and should be circa 1000 ohms at 30 degrees celcius. All 3 falls as the engine warms but the ISV control and FEI wont be getting correct readings for fueling ?
Anyone suggest what my start issue could be, or where to get genuine quality sensors.
Once its running it is perfect. Pulls very well and smooth through all of revs. On initial starting it catches then dies. Once around 40 degrees C + the car will restart instantly no worries.
Getting very frustrated and confused , any help appriciated . Thanks
