Alloy corrosion on warranty
« on: 30 September 2015, 22:16 »
One of my alloys had started to corrode. It's less than 2 years old, i haven't kerbed it. It's it possible to get it replaced in warranty?

Thanks

If you're talking "white worm" corrosion, where they polished alloy underneath the lacquer starts to corrode then yes, it is a warranty job. They will replace rather than refurb. Unless there is evidence that you've scuffed the lacquer around the corroded area then replacement is due.

When I had a MK5 with the same issue my local garage (Benfield) refused to help - that was a very costly mistake on their part as it was the start of a car buying relationship with Pulman - I have had my last 4 cars from Pulman and not bought a VW from Benfield since. The Pulman warranty manager acknowledged the issue straight away and ordered 4 new wheels (they were all affected). From then on it was Pulman all the way.

If you do get fobbed off by your local dealership group, try another.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Be prepared for a bit of a battle as I've had a couple of wheel issues and have had challenge their decisions both times, eventually however had the result that I wanted.

I had an issue with one of the wheels on my Tiguan and went to my dealer Benfield and they changed 3 under warranty no problem and the wife had one replaced on the Golf ( we paid for it but no where near new price )after it had been refurbed twice  after buying .
Benfield in Dumfries have been brilliant with us .

Thanks everyone, I'll give it a go.  All dealerships try and wriggle out of warranty work, it's just how they are.

It's not white worm, it's just some corrosion, it's strange,  looks like the lacquer has gone.
