I feel short changed   My video was just over a minute long and it only covered the tread depths which were done with the wheels on!!!

Not a bad service though I thought. I think Audi do something similar but you can actually watch them while they work on your car.

That copper slip looks decidedly dodgy. Was that them that applied it?

Just had our Video today for the Wife's Polo Blue GT in for its 2nd service.

The video only lasted about 20 seconds, was totally static at the rear of the car, and over the din of the workshop I could just make out the technician saying "everything's fine, conducted a Heath check and the car passed - one advisory- front wiper blades could do with changing, our sales department will call you with a quote"

To be fair they did, but I can get Bosch aero twins much cheaper so I left it.

So nothing like as detailed as yours

It might have been 3 minutes long but it was hardly worth it (strangely the Missus says that quite often as well ). I really don't see the point of these videos tbh unless there is something worth showing you.

Couple of questions if I may.

Following the 2nd annual service yesterday of the Wife's Polo Blue GT, (on which like mine, she has a 3 year VW service contract), it was pretty uneventful with everything fine, except that when we got the car back and I had a look at the little wallet with the service info they put on the front seat, under the vehicle check-list sheet I noticed there was a comment for "Air Con service" at around £65 ?

Is this normal to have the air con serviced (I guess re-gassed) at around 2 years, and is this not something that the service pack should cover ?

Secondly on my GTD, the information screen flashed on this morning saying service due in 30 days. This was a bit weird as a) the last service was only done in mid September last year, and the car has only covered 7,400 miles since the last service. AFAIK, the car was set to time and distance, so was expecting a year of 10,000 miles between services ? Could this just be that from new, they still had the computer set to flexible interval service (the car now has 16,000 miles on it) ?

Am I OK to leave it until the year is up (it will still be well short of 10k miles travelled since the previous service (something like 8,500-9000 miles is about what it will have done), or do you have to take it in straight away when the "Service Now" light comes on to protect the warranty ?

They asked me if I wanted my air con recharged and also if I wanted a fuel treatment. Apparently these are seperate charges and not covered under the service pack. I declined the air con work but got the fuel treatment done at £22 I think.

You don't need to take it in as soon as the light comes on. I waited at least 3 weeks as mine was also flashing up way to early

No need for an aircon service if the system is still pumping out cool air. They will not service the compressor or any other bits that would cost money if they failed. They will recharge the system with coolant and put a new seal on. If the car's coolant is still in the correct place and hasn't escaped then you're fine.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
