Fuel pump housing 16v
« on: 15 February 2014, 11:53 »
Hi guys,

I currently have a mk2 16v GTI 1990.. Kr engine. It's pretty much standard... Haven't really participated much, since I bought it as it's been running fine and haven't really had to much to do to it..except enjoy it... Had an old 8v years at and missed it and picked this one up.

Anyway need some help as I've finally run into a prob... The MOT is due and a fuel leak has been found around the housing.  I've put up wanted posts and scoured ebay and the usual places  like GSF and have failed to find a replacement... Seem to be obsolete.. Which is a masssive win....cry:

Anyway I've found a few possible replacements from Canada and the states, but not sure if they will come through...

If all this fails... Bar waiting to find one through a breakers... Any idea what I can do to to replace/refresh it... Given that this is an obsolete part now... Surely some peeps out there have found an alternative way around this? Mk3 parts perhaps?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

James

it might not be the housing itself that's leaking. could be one of the pipes going to it. maybe the metal one has rusted through. if it is the housing then maybe it could be stripped down and plastic welded. there is no pressure inside them anyway. but I would check the fuel lines to it first.

I have this problem also. I eventually found a housing so I jumped in the car and drive to Telford to pick it up. The next day my mk2 was in the garage was hoping it will be on the road so I can actually enjoy it and now the fuel pump in the new housing is nakered and to add to that the screws attached to the pump and the housing are rusted in. Hope all this can be sorted
