The most deserving prize should be for who has the lowest average mpg for a GTD, i'm sure there are a few here under 40mpg. I'm nowhere near at around 44mpg average for around 18k miles.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

41.1 gti

This is your long term average?. How many miles have you done? I just don't see how people can be achieving these figures in a GTI. Driving in economy mode and with a very light foot the best I've seen is 36mpg.

If you're getting 40's as an average long term figure and this isn't meant to offend anyone but you really shouldn't have bought a GTI and should have considered something like a blue motion Golf diesel. As you are probably using 10% of the car's power and it would indicate that you drive quite steadily and economically.

I agree Craig my average long term is 27.6 that's in the DSG and that's driving what I would consider to be normal.

Given My daily commute is 120 mile round trip with an average motorway speed of around 50 due to slow traffic it's just what I get.  I'm happy with what I get. It also means that I have fun when not doing the daily drive to work. And with no disrespect to anyone. I hate driving diesels.

Good for you, drive the GTI not a dullard Blue motion. Might as well do the commute in something you like.

I find motorway not to be that good but A/B roads on a run are better.

Just to clarify, this is the actual long term read out not your best short term.   My best short term is 43 MPG but my long term (from 0 miles) is quite different

Yep the rpm will be a little lower, assuming 60 for A/B road and 70+ on motorway.

My best short term is 50!!! nottingham to leeds along the m1 with two sets of 50 restrictions. ACC and eco mode for that as it was a average speed check one.
Outside of that i was just doing 70-75 using own throttle
