Hi All.
I have recently become the owner of a MK3 GTI 8 valve black Golf after driving MGB's and various Rovers for the last 20 years. I have to say the GTI is a great car for working on.. I have changed the clutch which the previous owner had ruined by pouring oil in through the TDC window on bell housing in an attempt to top up gearbox oil. haha. I have also replaced front passenger spring, all brakes and managed to get a good scuttle on ebay. the car is great except for one niggle. It sometimes has idle issues. It starts and drives ok but sometimes it will idle high. If I switch off and restart it then its fine. Have replaced and cleaned the Throttle body, Maf and just today the cranksahft sensor, which was completely shot. Heres hoping. Mal
