Yesterday I went to fit the towing eye in the front of my GTI and I found that after screwing it in for a couple of turns the internal mount just rotated and I could feel it was loose as the eye could be pushed in and out while still screwed into the mount. It was difficult to remove it but finally managed and then I tried the eye in the rear mount and it screwed in and was nice and solid.
Before I call the dealer has anyone else found this - does not seem right or secure as it is.
