What's this plug?

I'm currently trying to sort my project mk 2 16v. Basically when testing the engine after rebuild the heater matrix has given up. Started stripping the dash out to replace it and it would appear that a mouse or something had been living in the dash board on the passenger side. Pulled a buckets worth of straw out of the corner behind the glove box  the little pest has chewed a few wires. And damaged this plug in the picture. My question is what is this plug for?

Silly question but have you tried following the wires to their source/destination? The only thing I can think of is maybe your cigarette lighter. Looks like a live, earth, and illumination (blue wire)

Tried to follow but they seem to disappear into a load of other wires. I will check in the morning weather they head towards the cigarette lighter. Cheers
