anyone know if the mk5 gti wing mirror is the same across all the range of mk5s? mine got clipped last night and will need a whole new unit by the looks of it.

it's one of the electric & heated ones

Pretty sure they are all the same, VW won't waste money in production having different shaped ones for different cars. Is it just the plastic casing that's damaged, or is it definitely the whole unit? You can dismantle the mirrors quite a bit so you may be able to just replace what's damaged rather than a whole new unit.

going to get it checked out tomorrow by a vw mechanic, hopefully i might just get away with a new casing and mirror but if i can pick up a complete silver one from a breakers for under £50 I might go that way

mechanically it still works (haven't tested the heating unit yet) but it's hard to tell what's broken in regards to clips so the new casing might not fit or be 100% secure
