I think we all know the quoted numbers are rubbish..

However it doesnt explain why a 4 Cyl 272ps turbo is way less economical (not just some of the time, but all of the time) than BMW's 306 BHP 6 cyl 3.0 turbo ?  Mine was a coupe with manual box not the later M135i..  Yes the TTS is quattro but not permanent and the TT is part aluminium so no heavier than a 1 series coupe..

In the GTi, tuned at 230 PS, I dont see why that should easily do high 30's regularly its only a 2 litre after all ?

Well either BMW is extracting more economy or the figures are optimistic.

The GTI will surely do 47 on the motorway driven sensibly.

I used to average high 20's in my TT so anything over 30 I'm quite happy about. In saying that, it is pretty scandalous what the manufacturers are allowed to get away with when quoting mpg's.

I can see motorway mpgs shooting up now the plod aren't shy about putting speed cameras on the motorways to enforce not only variable speed limits but now the statutory 70mph limit.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
