help with my sick Golf mk 1

My golf Mk 1 is very sick  :cry: i am a proud owner of a golf Mk1 GTI Rivage convertable but t keeps bunny hopping then loss of power. I then have to sit and wait until it cools down before I drive off. Then it starts all over again. I NEED HELP oh yes before I do it yes i will I WILL HAVE TO BUY A JAP CAR..........HELP

Sounds like a fuel supply problem.......where are you? Anywhere near Yateley, Hampshire? Can't have you leaving the VW scene :wink:

Sounds like it might be a dodgy fuel relay to me as I've had a similar problem where I lost power on mine and then had to let it cool down, although I didn't get the kangaroo bit.  :undecided: You could try taking it out and giving the connections a clean as these can get loads of crap on them and seeing how you get on.

If it's the fuel relay then you will not hear the fuel pump prime when it's lost it's power. You should hear a whurr sound come from the front of the back wheel on the drivers side.
