ok.. im stupid again...

this is not really a vw thing... but im totally confused!!! (easy done i know  )

ok so here goes.. 3point and 4 point harnesses with buckets... my mates been told that in the event of a crash the 4 point is not as safe as the 3 point and it doesn't give you the flexibility and movement in your seat.
the three point is safer.. but in my thinking a 4 point has the harnesses goin thru seat and fastening back tot he harness points on rear passenger seat directly behind said seat surely giving you more stability as each side of the harness that goes over your shoulder is braced to one point!?.  with a 3point don't you have to fasten the third  point to one of your rear seatbelt bolt things... but seein as there is a choice of two which ever you pick will  pull your harness to one side won'\t it.. or am i missing something here... seein as you only fasten it at one rear point will that make the harness lop-sided?? am i making any sense... don't really know what im sayin here as i don't know technical terms...

han xx

errrr....well the way i see it, unless you have a roll cage, dont have a 4 point, as in the event of you rolling the car you would be pinned in and have your head squished, as opposed to a three point , where you would move as the car rolled and maybe avoid a squished head?  :undecided:

The way i understand it is that the harness points are mounting points the more points you have the mor positions its located in if youlook at 3 points the shoulder straps are one lonh length the for a "V" shape that go up one side loop round an eyelet and com back down on side , on 4 points these are 2 seperate lengths that run parallell to each other, and to 2 seperate mountings at the rear , as for either one being safer than the other im not sure 4 points are a little more supportive because you can adjust most models slighly more than the 3 point , as for being pinned in a car with ya head squised this would happen with a normal "inertia type belt , just as it would with a harness (i know from personal experiance)
