Checked mine recently, it does have an o-ring on it. Also if oil has built up on it that will stop it from adjusting, worth wiping it down in case, remember to count the number of turns need to unscrew it though. And iirc you need to unplug the blue temp sensor for the idle to change, a la the digifant tuning guide.

I've cleaned it thoroughly, the problem is that the screw just spins. So it's won't go further in, won't come further out. Someone has ruined the threads on it I guess

I hope so! This is the last thing I can think of! I mean, I have about 101 problems before I have to fix a mildly annoying impracticality. Such as a bloody battery drain and a starter which is well on it's way out. Yay.
