mk7 mfsw in a mk6...?
« on: 11 October 2014, 20:17 »
Hello
I have searched and cant quite get the info needed.

I have been offered a mk7 gtd, TDI, blue motion mfsw, its lacking an air bag but its quite cheap so am happy to keep an eye out for a bag. Question is do mk7 wheels fit on mk6s. I am pretty sure 5 & 6 are interchangeable but not sure on mk7s?
Currently my mk6 has a standard steering wheel without buttons so I know i need to get it programmed up to activate the buttons.
Also anyone with a gti cloth interior looking to sell it please let me know.

Carl

True I had not thought of the colour...

Nothings easy.

Just want mfsw. Could go for the standard leather mfsw but I like a flat bottom wheel. But they are £300-£400 on ebay

You will almost certainly have to change the steering wheel controller as well as reprogramming to get the buttons to work.

This table for mk 5/6 might help:

The mk 7 buttons on some versions also perform other operations like activating cruise control so compatibility might be a problem.

Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

Very interesting link I will have a look at it and see what I need.

Think a mk6 gtd wheel is the best option.
