Anti lag

am i right in thinking that anti lag systems dramatically reduce the life of a turbo?

As you don't appear to own a car, yet alone a turbo I assume this is just a general interest question.  The answer is yes.

Yes - anti lag works (in general) by keeping the throttle open and retarding the timing so much that it causes the firing of the cylinder to happen when the exhaust valve is open. When this happens, you are not just getting hot exhaust gasses hitting the turbo, but a constant flow of burning fuel/air mixture, greatly increasing the heat within the turbo. This greatly reduces the life of the turbo.

With a cheap old car it won't be anti lag turbos you'll be after it will be stuff like brake pipes, abs sensors, maf sensors, radweld, wiper motors and the like.  Plus insurance, road tax, and the cost of petrol.

I was just asking a general question and I do know that I'm gna beed insurance etc I have had a car before its not like im from another planet
