Kerbed wheel!
« on: 16 August 2014, 23:13 »
Hey all,

I was really pleased with myself today, I managed to negotiate £150 off my insurance renewal, but tonight on my way home, I hit a kerb (totally my own fault, too busy chatting and feeling pleased with my saving!) below is an example of the damage.

Reading online I see most places claim to be able to refurbish diamond cut wheels. I see on here people recommend lepsons, but I don't really want to be driving round on the spare wheel as I have a 30 mile round trip to work.

Can anyone recommend a local place in the Horsham/Crawley area. I was tempted to not bother, but I think the damage is pretty bad, and it will only annoy me the more I see it!

I guess most or all of my £150 saving from haggling this morning will be gone!

Cheers,
Phil

Depends how bad your OCD is but you could probably get that acceptable with some fine wet and dry followed up with some Sovol Autosol. You might as well try before you take it to a specialist. I did a small scuff on mine and I have to look hard to find it.

Morning i know Woburn in Bedfordshire is a long way away but the best company i have found is Pristine wheels not banged the GTD wheels yet but did a good job on 2  C class wheels about 2 years ago and they made a fantastic job of them £85 each.Still enjoying my GTD best most stable car on the road i have ever owned.

The sh!tty bridgestones might be a part of it, and the slide was without the DTUK box on, so managed to do it with stock power.

Speaking of tyres, what is the forum opinion of the Continental Sport Contact 2 that came on mine?

As a stock tyre not bad but much much better than the stock bridgestones.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.
