what are you exactly doing with the engine? you put the 2.0 block from the agg on a 1.8 8v (which 1.8 8v - they were never digifant on mk3 but bosch monos....)

2E will show more than 1 dizzy - VW used 2 systems, Bosch and Sagem (others like BERU manufacture both versions).
You can tell which one you have by looking at the colour of dizzy cap if you look at a second hand one. Bosch = brown cap (colour of EM cap irrelevant), Sagem = black.
IIRC if you wanna put in a whole 2E dizzy assembly including the shaft with gear then it doesn't matter which one you put in.

Manufacturer only comes into play when you only wanna swap dizzy finger and cap.

If like me you just replaced the bottom end on you mk2 and have kept the mk2 top end then you could do what I did. I took the inners out if my original mk2 dizzy and transplanted it into the body of the original mk3's thus fitting the bigger whole...had mine running fine for 5000 plus miles now.
