New Windscreen Install Question
« on: 16 June 2014, 22:27 »
Hi All,

I had my windscreen replaced today at a VW dealers - I thought they did a good job however when I got home, I noticed something at the base of the windscreen near the driver side corner.  Initially I thought it was a black/grey "wedge" which was used whilst the new windscreen was being aligned, however when I started to move it out, it has a "wire" attached and also looks like the backing is "self adhesive" and should be stuck to the windscreen.

Can anyone advise what this is e.g. a sensor?

Many thanks for your advice.

Take it back to the dealer to sort, just in case it is something important.

Personally, I've not been happy with stealers garage work on both my GiT and the wife's Polo. I've found it sloppy, which your 'repair' seems to be too.
Just check that you are happy with all other aspects of repair such as wiper/lights sensors too before you take it back to them.

All,

Well took it back to the dealers and they had no idea what this is.  It looks like some kind of antenna to me and the company who retrofitted some components for me in the past, said it may be an old Bluetooth component (I currently have the Bury Bluetooth kit installed), as Charlie raised...

I have tucked it down at the bottom of the windscreen - I have tested the wiper and light sensors and they seem "ok" - not overly impressed with the sensitivity of the wiper sensors though compared with my other cars.....
