Fitting Central Locking/Electric Windows to a Mk2 8v
« on: 26 October 2003, 15:31 »
I'm new to the GTI game and used to be an air cooled man. I have a '89 Mk2 8v and i was wondering if anyone has any tips on fitting/buying central locking kits and maybe even installing electric windows.
Any ideas on where to get them cheap? Is it a hard job to do?   ???

Volksbits (08712 221748) in b'ham sell kits for central locking. I have one. Hooked it into my alarm and it all works a treat. :) Only ?30 and you get a 4 door kit so could use a spare for the boot, etc.

I fitted an electric window kit to my cab, It was a huge job to do as the mechanism took several hours to fit into the door, but once that was in the wiring and fitting of switches was a piece of cake. Give it a go, just be prepared for a few scraped knuckles!!!
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture
