Updating RNS510
« on: 30 May 2014, 20:21 »
Hi all,

Ok so I'm looking to upgrade the firmware and maps on my RNS510. I have a version F currently running firmware version 3970 and map version 7690 (Western Europe V8). From the reading I have done so far, the firmware should be updated first and in increments. So I should go through v3980, v4020, v5218 then v5238 to finally get to v5269, does this sound correct? (I'm looking here for the versions http://www.my-gti.com/3868/volkswagen-rns-510-firmware-download-repository)

Also do I need to do any coding after firmware updates? I have no parking sensors or camera but I do have MDI and the VW accessory bluetooth kit. Will updating mess any of these up or the buttons on the steering wheel?

As for the maps do I need to update incrementally with these as well i.e go to V9 before updating to V10?

Any help and advice much appreciated :)

Hey pal,

Yep, from what I know, firmware upgrades need to go through increments but not sure of the increment stagger/stages.
Upgrades to firmware should not affect stock equipment, so no additional coding required.

As for maps, once you have updated firmware, you can upgrade maps without the increment steps i.e. V8 to V10 in one go
