GTi cab starting probs
« on: 05 September 2005, 13:57 »
I have a few problems with my newly aquired GTi Cab. Firstly, it has trouble starting from cold, and when revved to approx 3k rpm, the oil (pressure?) light flashes. After 5 minutes or so standing at idle though, the lumpy idle evens out, and the light doesn't come on.  The offending light is as below: -

Could this be a fault with the oil switch, as it is fine at all other times, and is there anything I can get to even out the rough idle when cold. The car needs a service so could that be making things worse??

Thanks

Are you sure its the oil pressure light and not the temperature gauge light ? My lights been a bit @rsey at the moment and keeps flicking on and one of the things to check if it is the temp light is that there is enough water/coolant in the expansion tank as the light will flash if the level is low. I'm not sure about the starting probs but I think a good service and check/tune by a trusted garage is probably a good thing to do first.
......now officially dubless.

It's not the one in the temp gauge, but the one in the cluster.  i think it's oil pressure.

Will get the service sorted

Thanks!
