Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum. I've had a new Mk7 for a month now, my last car was a Porsche Boxster (987) but I'm not sorry I changed! The Golf is everything I want in a car, quick-ish, sporty, comfy but able to be used as normal, sensible family transport should the need arise.

I have to admit I'm also a lot happier with front-wheel drive, most of my cars have been this over the years. The new Golf also reminds me in style and attitude of one of my favourite cars, a Mk1 1800 GTI which I had during my younger carefree days in the 1980s. Mind you, the Mk7 is a hell of a lot faster!

Welcome to the forum pal . High praise indeed coming from a Porsche owner. Love the look of the new 981. I passed by a white one tonight and it was absolutely lovely.

Welcome! It's a very good car the GTi ..... I've got a 981 Boxster S and I find I've driven it much less than I used to. Partially because the Golf is new and a novelty and partially because it's just so nice to drive! OK the Boxster will ultimately corner / brake / accelerate harder - but then for twice the price you sort of expect that ....

Enjoy your slice of hot hatch sophistication .....
