Hi,

A few issues are stacking up with this GTi at the moment unfortunately and the selling dealership appear more keen to offer a refund than trying to fix them, which seems surprising and is a less desirable option to me if they can be remedied (car is 3 door, 2010MY manual Das Welt approved used).

Key issues are:
1. Query start up noise (starter motor grind or timing chain tensioner rattle).

2. Front brake grind.

3. Persistent "ghost" seat belt warning activation (2 unsuccessful attempted fixes to date).

4. Driver's electric window noise (extremely loud/tight fit glass rubbing on rubber when moved up & down).

5. Electric windows appear to be dropping a couple of inches when the car is remote locked (e.g lock it overnight and return in the morning to find the windows have dropped).  It has happened 3 times in a fortnight, the most recent time being this morning when on once pressing the unlock button, the windows dropped.

6. Wind intrusion on motorway (60mph plus. Sound like boot is open/ like there is no soundproofing from boot area.

Can anyone please recc an independent VW specialist clued up on the MK6 GTi and who they would trust to diagnose and or dismiss any obvious faults or concerns re query faults.  The experience at the selling dealership has become one where I feel they are trying to fob me off and overall, I have a loss of trust and confidence.

Thanks.

I've used Awesome GTI in Irlam and they're certainly clued up on the mechanical side of things. I'm not sure of their experience on the window/trim related issues though.

All those thing wrong with it, I would take the refund as find a new one. If you do have the timing chain rattle it would be best to get rid asap or pay the £350+ to get it fixed.

Thanks for the replies.

@Ross, don't know if you read my post on the timing chain thread but I've listened to to your youtube soundbyte and think ours sounds similar.  I've got a brief video clip of ours if you were able to PM me an email address I could send it to you for your learned opinion based on your own experience please?

Thanks
