K250 Turbo
« on: 25 February 2014, 20:10 »
I am having a new Beachbuggy Turbo k250 fitted on Monday and I was wandering what are they like compared to the standard K03s. The chap who puts them together (Dan) told me it will spool up a bit quicker and has been tested up to 260bhp.

Has anyone else on here got one, or had one, or been in a car with one on it. If so, have you noticed much of an improvement over the K03s?

It came with an uprated actuator. Should I keep that on it, or would it be best to put my Forge actuator on it, which was what my car was remapped with last time I went to R-Tech.
Mods: R-Tech custom remap, Beachbuggy K250 Turbo, Forge 007 DV, RAMAIR Jetstream 108 induction filter, silicone piping throughout, R-Tech Supersize TIP, 42 Draft Stealth Catch Can, N249 bypass, Ported Manifold, Toyo Sports FMIC with 2 & 1/2 pipes, Custom made full turbo back exhaust & 2 & 1/2 " downpipe and 200 cell sports cat. BAM injectors, Turbosmart Boost Gauge, BBS CK Wheels, 312mm Brembo front discs and pads, Carbon canister delete and last of all, a liquid cube!

Stick with the actuator they provide, out of interest, why did you not go for a k280?

I didn't know there was one. I phoned him up and asked for a stock and he suggested the K250. I didn't want to get the K300 because that would of involved changing other parts and another remap.

What is the K280 like then, is it a direct replacement for the k03s?

It may need tweaking a little, but generally it should be ok. And also, it was a lot cheaper than the K300. I have a ported manifold and a supersize tip that will be put on as well, so theoretically I should see some improvement  over the 235bhp I get at the moment with my K03s, which is on its way out.

Yeah, K280 is a direct replacement for ko3s as well but once it's mapped in you can see upto 280bhp depending on supporting mods.

Supersize TIP & good flowing FMIC seem to be making the difference for getting most out of a K03s/K250.

IIRC the K250 is like a K04-001 which are good for 240-260 depending on other hardware.

Should of gone for the K280 but that said will be a very quick car with 250 and plenty of torque :)

1.8T AUQ - 241bhp & 286 ft-lb

I was thinking it should get around the 250 mark, as I have 235 at the moment with 272 torque, which is quite good. I have an R-Tech supersize tip and a ported manifold (Done by Badger5) being put on at the same time too, So fingers crossed, it should pack a punch!
