Engine noise
« on: 26 February 2014, 12:05 »
Ok, we drive dervs, the engine is never going to sound anything other than like a hushed tractor, especially when cold.

I have noticed a slightly different noise over and above the usual drone of the engine. It's a much higher pitched, high frequency rattle. If I had to liken it to something, I'd say it sounded like tappets.

Only seems present when warm, but may just be because the rest of the engine noise has settled.

Does anyone else have this?

I know that some people had problems with a wastegate clip rattle from the engine bay. Could it be that?

I have a very slight electronic hum when the car settles to idling speed, sounds like a small motor.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

The wastegate clip sounds interesting.

Dumb question, where in the bay is the turbo fitted and do I need to remove any shields to get to it?
