Problem removing valve stem seals?

Got an 8v gti and have removed the valves but the blimmin stem seals have welded themselves in - anyone got any suggestions on best way to remove them.

I think yoiu may need a tool or a "thingy" as i was just told.

Got mine out with a small screwdriver and some long nose pliers to tug at em, took a bit of time but not too hard, just pulled, although i was having new valve guides pressed in after so it didnt matter if i scratched em a bit!

Rip em apart with a pair of long-nosed pliars.

Changed my seals recently with the head still on and the cylinders pumped full of air. Used some circlip pliers not the ones that you can change heads on but dedicated internal circlip ones and pulled very very hard (when they come off be prepared to search high and low for them because they will fly). You need to make sure that you have the pliers on the metal part of the seal. I found that trying to rotate the seal around the valve guide as well as tugging got them off in the end. They won't come off looking pretty but that doesn't matter.
