is it hitting good boost and then dropping very fast or does it drop slow.
14 psi is all the map sensor will let you get and then it will drop boost to around 3-5 psi

just for your piece of mind check check and check again all your boost piped i had a hideous issue when my charge pipe disconnected itself whilst overtaking a lorry it just sounded like a massive whooshing when it wanted to boost and when you sat still and gave it a small rev it sounded like it had a badboy blow off valve lol (embarrassingly it took me 45 minutes to find a pipe that was completely disconnected)

GTI is not a trim level. It is a lifestyle.

what engine code do you have? Easiest way is a boost gauge although on the models with a MAP sensor you can read it off VAG COM
