1.8t Clutch
« on: 28 November 2013, 13:36 »
I have a question about my cars clutch, my car is a 2002 AUM running a revo stage 1 with stock clutch and 30K miles on the clock. The clutch has been feeling a little jumpy since I got the car 5 months ago but now seems to feel really smoothe all of a sudden. The issue is the bite point is now very near the top of the pedal with the clutch completely enguaging only about 1-2cm from the lock out position. Is this normal with these cars, or coupld my clutch be about to give up? The clutch does not apper to slip, put my foot down in 3rd and 4th going up hill and taken the revs up with no slipping.

Whats everyones thoughts?

Just sounds like it's wearing, 30k miles? That's mega low!

I wouldn't panic too much just keep an eye on it and if it gets really bad then time to replace :)

My clutch is slipping after around the same mileage on a remap. Saving pennies for a g60/vr6 clutch conversion at the moment.

Looking at a G60/VR6 clutch upgrade myself.

Is it the Sachs clutch I am looking for?

Darkside developments sell a range of kits that fit both 5 speed and six speed boxes. And yeah go for sachs.

This is the darkside one, http://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-g60-flywheel-and-sachs-vr6-clutch-kit.html

Valeo SMF kit is £290 on carparts4less, If you use there promo code you save and extra £15 so you pay £275.

I have been running this set-up in my Cupra R running 280bhp for 12mths/12000miles now.
Been absolutely fine. Can't fault it,

Cheap 6-speed option.
