anything thats been written off in any way shape or form  you have to MOT it then take it for a vic check at ministry place.

lot of faff and nonsense written about it but its straight forward and simpels,  if the engine number and chassi number reg mark all tally up it'll go through not a bother ,  i've never had an issue with a VIC check

cars with recorded damage are nothing to be scared of  infact they are often a better  buy.    as if its damaged you know why it's for sale if it's repared you know where to look for bodgeing and generaly its a car the previous owner didn't want to sell.

the real horrors i've found are the much younger cars from the high value marques,  poeple go to a lot of effort on those to keep the presented history clean and the real events hidden, it is also worth reincarnating some pritty horrific wrecks

all the VW's have gone bar 1.

I can confirm you won't be seeing a V5 until you have VICed the car.

You need to take it to a Ministry location to have it checked.

There is a cost - £4-50 IIRC

Then after a time you get a new V5 with the VIC marked on it.

The main thing the VIC confirms is the identity of the vehicle and that it's safe to be on the road.  It's not extensive, except they'll be checking all of the identifying marks on the vehicle.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
