DSG issue - strange one
« on: 24 November 2013, 21:58 »
Hi all,

Something different started happening to my car today

Basically when I unlock the car and the auto lights come on (only started happening tonight) the lights by the dsg gear selector (the stick its self) start flashing/pulsing, PRNDS. As soon as I turn on the ignition the flashing stops.
The flashing doesn't alway appear either.
The car also drives fine, no issues at all, no flashing on the dash, changes gears correctly.

Does anyone have any ideas?
I dont have the correct vag com for this car, only the lite version and cable for a mk4 :(

Cheers

Just to add to this.....

No lights at all this morning by the dsg stick, so it seems to be a problem with the auto light thingy?

Anyway I am getting it scanned today just to be sure.

Just had it scanned and no faults found unders transmission 02 or engine.

I guess it was/or is just a eletrical blip

I'm no electrician, or mechanic (in fact, I'm not sure what I am ) but perhaps a bit of moisture has got into some wiring somewhere and was causing a small fault? Have a check about the seals and where any electrics are under the bonnet to check that every thing's OK?

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

need to do a full scan really, when the lights flash like you describe it can point to faults being logged in other control modules. ABS faults and certain glitches in the convenience module spring to mind

Thanks for the help.

I'll give that ago next time I am able to use a Vagcom, I had to use one at a local garage to me today, who just scanned these two components from what I could tell.

Do all dsg faults report under transmission on vagcom?

Car was fine today, no repeat of the "problem"
