water pump or head gasket
« on: 28 October 2013, 02:10 »
Hi guys just bought a 2.0 GTI with suspected gasket problem but on arival and vuwing i found out the water pump had broken now i started it for a fue minutes and it seemed fine other than not being able to get it up to temp so just wondering if its possably just the water pump. I know to do the timing at the same time so that's sorted and dose any one know how much a water pump is at euro car parts iv tryed looking on line but there site just comes up with words that you cant do nothing with. If anyone can help would be great.

Probably killed it running without water pump.
Last I got one it was bout £20 ish and you don't need to take Cambelt off to do them

what 2.0 gti?????? mk3, mk4, mk5, mk6?

if it's a mk3 no need to do cambelt and worth the try. mk3 pump for 1.8/2.0 from gsf is 30£, would think its the same with ecp. mk4 on they run off cambelt.

if I where you I would do the water pump / cambelt and the thermostat and take it from there the parts should not coast more than £100 if you get them from somewhere like GSF or eurocarparts
why didn't I just leave it alone lol
