OBD socket wiring not working

hello,i have a mk3 golf AGG engine fitted to my 1981 vw camper ,  does anybody know if my OBD socket will work on a rolling road with only ports numbers 7 K line , ground and port 16 live wired up , it works with a computer to read any faults , but when i went to get it tuned on a rolling road the machine coulndt find the ECU, does it need any more info , any help would be great

If you can read codes then its talking to the ECU ,maybe it doesnt like the tuners equipment

rolling road might be OBD2 and not support KKL protocol VW use on OBD1

thanks for thr replies , just remebered that his machine couldnt find an AGG engine on his list ??, thought that was a bit strange
