AGG to ABF
« on: 21 October 2013, 12:55 »
Hey gents!

My question it's .

Can I make a Swap from AGG to ABF?It's quickly the Swap? It's plug and play? xD

Can I use my gear box?or it's better to use the abf's gearbox?

Thanks!

too much work to be worthwhile imo.8v gearbox is cable and weak on an 8v so hopeless on a 16v.16v box is hydraulic so you would need pedal box as well.Insurance would go up more than if it was just a change to a standard 16v as it's modified.Might be wiser to sell what you've got and buy a 16v if thats what you want.Personally i would never buy another 16v as the power is too high up the rev range to be useable where i live.

I done this on mine a few weeks ago, abf box, depends which one you are using but as a rule of thumb, it has a hydro clutch and cable linkage, so all will need to be changed unless you use the 8v box, flywheel and clutch it will be ok. people say you need to change the pedal box if you go hydro, but ive had 4 mk3's and all have standard cable and hydro fittings on

apart from the obvious, you will also need to change the engine loom and ecu, the engine drops straight in, you will need the abf manifold and should be able to adapt it to your current system, thou the 8v's run a 50mm exhaust and the abf's run a 55 if I remember correctly

you will also need the ignition barrel, key and transponder to match the ecu unless you have an non immo ecu, apart from that, everything is plug and play, I ditched the aircon out of mine when I done the change, along with the abs and airbags. always have had to removed the master cylinder and once the brake booster

also you will need the according vac lines, fuel lines, hoses for rad, I think the rads are the same size. think its it really

Thanks for answer quickly!

I just buy another golf with abf 's engine. With all parts!

The imo could be a problem but I think if I've got all the part , couldn't be a problem. Ant the same with the radiator and all of this

How do you do it? you change the compressor  for a free roller?

You will need to declare you have modified it to a 16v

you can use the standard ce2 fusebox so theres no worries abot that, I used a lightened flywheel in mine and it make a heck of a difference. as har as ditching the aircon when, its just as simple as removing the compressor itself, and you will need to use a 8v waterpump pulley of your current engine and order a belt of fleabay, cost me a 10er. the belt size you need is a 6pk 1035 belt. and boom, its done.

the immo shouldn't cause you any problems if you have all the bits. when I done my engine change, the donar car didn't have a vagcom socket so I have to wire my current one in, spent 2 days trying to start the car and it turned out my key didn't have a chip in it! had to use the spare key
