I also am not a fan of rubber mats. When it's pissing it down and you get in the car, the carpet mats serve to dry off the soles of my shoes as to avoid slipping on the pedals.  Can't do that with rubber mats. When they get dirty just wash/Hoover them.

+1 every six months you could just replace the carpet mats. They are not exactly massively expensive and they loll much nicer than the rubber ones

I've always had rubber mats as well as the carpet ones. when I bought my Passat this year, the first thing that I did was go to TPS and buy a new set of rubber mats and a replacement set of carpet one. However, 6 months on, I'm still using the carpet ones that came in the car and have the new ones put up for "best".

I'm quite liking having the carpet ones now, and my OCD is satisfied by knowing that I have a new set in the garage. I will say that I am cleaning them far more than I would with the rubber ones, meaning the car is getting hoovered at least twice a week now.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Not a fan either. They look like they belong in a tractor.

GTD owners will love them in that case
